Invitation for an Exhibition of Sculpture Maquettes during China Changchun International Sculpture Convention 2003
NEW DEADLINE: 31 March 2003

The China Changchun International Sculpture Convention 2003 will be held from September 6th to 8th 2003 in Changchun, China

500 people, including 100 foreign artists and 400 national artists will be invited to the Convention, which includes an international topic lecture forum on sculpture with 20 well-known sculptors and critics giving lectures, an international Sister-Cities Sculpture Symposium with 30 works exhibited, an exhibition of International Sculpture maquettes with 400-500 maquettes displayed in 10 exhibition rooms.

If you could help us organize individual or group sculpture exhibitions by participating with one of your sculptures (and possibly bringing with you other sculptors who wish to do the same), we would be very grateful to you.

Please take into account the following when preparing your submission :

  1. The works should show your local culture and present distinctive national characteristics, have a high artistic value level and skillful rendition
  2. Maquettes made of metal, stone and wood are appreciated. We will need you to e-mail a photo and brief introduction to your maquettes. After filling in this Application Form you should send photos by e-mail to Miss Lju Hexin (Olivia) at dsb_jl@yahoo.com.cn - please include your full contact details in your e-mail.
  3. Tthe size of maquettes should be between 30 and 100cm

The Committee will provide sculpture exhibitors with the following:

  1. Exhibition space, plinth, lights and free security for the maquettes during the 3 day Sculpture Convention
  2. Accommodations during the 3 day Sculpture Convention
  3. A business opportunity for the collection (purchase by collectors) of your maquettes
  4. The Committee will cover the one-time round trip travelling expenses for any delegation leader who organizes a delegation with over 10 people; and the travelling expenses for any two leaders who organize a delegation with 20 people. Sculptors who wish to participate but do not wish to organize a delegation may travel to the Convention and exhibition at their own expense

Please provide the following before 31 March 2003:

  1. The photos, dimensions and materials of the maquettes - as an email attachment in the form of a JPG, BMP or TIF image (include your full contact details) to Miss Lju Hexin (Olivia) at dsb_jl@yahoo.com.cn
  2. Any special requirements

After the selection process, and a two-sided discussion with you (by e-mail), the Committee will deliver to you an official invitation for the selected maquette(s) to be exhibited.
