Recent Sculpture Projects

I recently worked on obtaining an an MFA international practice degree from the University College of the Arts at Canterbury (formerly KIAD). In this context, I finished my initial Artists of the Silk Road sculpture project.

I am also recently took part in the 1st International Sculpture Festival of Kunming, China from 30 April to 1 June 2005.

In February 2005, I was asked to participate in Honduras en 24 Horas, an event over 24 hours with over 60 photographers spread out throughout Honduras to photograph the country for the Ministry of Tourism and the UN development Project.

Other recent projects included participating in the 3rd INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM in the ancient city of HUE, VIETNAM 2004 and the ARTE PARA TODOS 2004 event in TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS

In Hue I decided to make TWO sculptures: the first one is called "Boat People".
This is located on the edge of the Perfume River, at the foot of the citadel and right accross from Hue's newly built town hall (headquarters of Hue People's Committee).
Below is the original design and some pictures.

The initial concept

Making the cut out which would be placed on the cast iron sheet afterwards and marked with chalk so it caould be cut out with an acytelene torch

It took 12 men to carry this 430 KG top heavy sculpture

The second sculpture I made at this symposium was called "The Maze of Love & Friendship".

Also situated in Phu Huong Park, on the north bank of the Perfume River at the foot of the citadel, this earthwork/architectural sculpture is on the Western side of the park, near the landing pagoda.

The basic shape - without the additional benches

The idea is that it takes a while perhaps to find love, to find friendship...

detail made of local Vietnamese ceramics and stones

My next work took me to the capital of Honduras, Tegucigalpa, for the ARTE PARA TODOS (Art for All) project of creating large-scale sculptures and murals under the auspices of the UNITED NATIONS and the FIRST LADY of HONDURAS.
See project details below. And see how the project turned out by clicking here.
