William Morris
Statue, Furnival Gardens, Hammersmith, London An Artist-Led Artwork Project for Hammersmith: The Sculpture of William Morris Sculptor Laury Dizengremel discovered in 2016 that some Hammersmith residents would rather see a statue of William Morris in Furnival Gardens than a statue of Lancelot Capability Brown, who had also lived in Hammersmith during a period of his life. After Laury's sculpture of Lancelot Capability Brown was unveiled just a bit further east, on the other side of Hammersmith Bridge on Distillery Wharf, along the Thames, she resolved that one of her next projects would be a statue of William Morris. Laury is now reflecting on this future portrayal of William Morris. She sees him walking on a winter's day, hat in hand.
