Castle & Estate Artist-in-Residence Project "Belvoir 3Rs" Reclaimed, Reycled, Raw Sculpture Trail Indicative List of Sustainable Sculpture Materials |
Indicative List of Sustainable Sculpture Materials for this Sculpture Competition. Remember the deadline is 31 January 2011. This list of environmentally-friendly or "green" sculpture materials is by no means exhaustive... We hope you will e-mail us with your suggestions for additions to the list! Reclaimable stuff: - Plumbing pipes - Broken or old furniture - Broken or old farm / industrial / office / home equipment - Discarded construction materials (wood, roofing tiles, floor tiles, panels, etc.) - Used nails / screws / bolts - Mirrors, gates, fencing, etc.... Recyclable stuff: - Rubber tyres (bicycle, car, truck, tractor tyres) - Inner tubes - Used electrical wire - Plastic bottles, - Glass bottles - Metal cans - Empty drums (plastic or metal) - Sacking / fabrics (strong, natural or artificial fibres) - Old CDs / DVDs - Old light bulbs (1800 of them!) - Broken ceramics / pottery fragments - Old plastic flowers - Used, old, broken toys - Plastic bags, etc.... Raw stuff: - Dead standing or fallen wood (oak, beech, ash, poplar, pine, etc.) - Twigs / cuttings from trees or shrubbery - Willow or other fast-growing green materials - Straw - Hay - Cob (mud over a substructure) - Stones - Rocks - Sand - Gravel, etc.... All of the sustainable sculpture materials for the "Belvoir 3Rs" Sculpture Trail will be sourced locally and donated by members of the Vale of Belvoir community, or immediately surrounding area. Remember, the Duchess of Rutland is the first major donor to the project, handing over 1800 light bulbs removed last year to be replaced by low-energy ones. As more specific junk, reclaimable, recyclable and raw materials that can be used in your sculpture proposals are donated we will update this page. Calls for Donations of Sustainable Materials - reclaimable junk / recyclables / raw stuff: If you have junk to donate, old objects/machinery/stuff that can be reclaimed or any raw material donations - please don't hold back, do e-mail.... Think along the lines of:
Reclaimed, Recycled, Raw!
