Completed in May 2012 "Isaac Newton's Woodhenge" is a collaborative sculpture installation by Laury Dizengremel and 82 pupils from Isaac Newton Primary School in Grantham (Lincolnshire) in the context of a community arts programme kick-started by a donation from the Duchess of Rutland. c This particular sculpture also benefitted from a Community Grants award given to Laury by Lincolnshire County Council to carry it out. Located in the market town of Grantham, close to Belvoir Castle where Laury is artist in residence, Isaac Newton Primary School had one area of the school where the head teacher wanted to liven things up. This new wood henge fits there perfectly! photo credit: Joe Caneen www.video-whisperer.com Sited at a rear entrance to the school, the new wood henge installation enlivens a previously dull area of the grounds. Because the site is very narrow and includes a path between two fences, the artist had to create a very long and narrow oval henge shape with the feathered planks painted by the students under her guidance.
